Sea scooters are so much fun to use when you are in an ocean and want to swim around looking for a lot of cool things to do. This is a top 10 list of sea scooters that you can use in 2020 but first, we are going to talk about the advantages of using a sea scooter.
Advantages of Sea Scooters:
- They allow you to go farther and see things that you would not normally see when you are just swimming.
- The other advantage is that you will not get tired as quickly when you are scuba diving because they will do most of the work for you.
Now make sure that you know what you are doing before you just hop onto a sea scooter and go because of the fact that they can be just a dangerous as they are fun. Once you know how to use them then you can take off and enjoy the undersea world that you have never been able to fully explore before.
1. G GENEINNO Underwater Scooter Dual Propellers w/ 2-Speed (Fastest)
This first one is has a compact design. Made to fit into your carry-on for a plane ride so they do not take up a ton of space. They have a mount that holds a GoPro, so not only are you able to see more underwater you can take a video in order to save those memories for a lifetime.
More, the motor on the scooter allows you to go down 164 ft. under the service and reach speeds of up to 4 miles per hour. Now, this may not seem like much but it definitely gets you through the ocean faster without impeding your view of the things that you want to see.
The battery lasts about 45 minutes when running constantly so you have plenty of time on the scooter to see the wonders of the ocean. It has a decent wait time for charging as it comes to a full charge within an hour and a half. Moreover, it comes with an extra battery so if 45 minutes is not long enough for you then you can switch out for a fully charged battery and keep going. They are designed to keep afloat when you have to pause for something or to change out the battery. In my opinion, this is one of the best sea scooters that you can go for.
2. SUBLUE WhiteShark Mix Underwater Scooter w/ Action Camera Mount
This underwater scooter is going to be a little cheaper than the first one. It is made to be simple and streamlined for the user. So this one I highly recommend for those that are first starting out using scooters like these.
As it is lightweight and portable. The fact that it only weighs 3.4 kg means that it is not going to be difficult to move back and forth between the beach and wherever you are staying. The propellers are designed in such a way that it prevents the fingers from being accidentally injured when in use. It is great for kids and young adults to use because it is such a small and compact design.
It can reach speeds of up to 3.5 miles per hour and go down to depths of 40 meters. The run time on this one is 30 minutes. However, it does not show a charge time so I would recommend making sure that it is fully charged the night before so that just in case it does take a long time to charge you are not waiting on it all day. This one is compatible with most sports cameras so you are not limited to just the GoPro which can be very convenient for some.
3. AQUAROBOTMAN MagicJet Underwater Seascooter 164ft 4mph w/ Camera Mounts
This is going to be one of the best sea scooters that you can find mostly because of the fact that it has mounts for 3 different cameras. This is cool because of the fact that it can get shots from multiple different angles and sceneries.
This device goes at speeds of 1.9 meters per second. This is a really good speed if you are looking to zip around the ocean floor looking at plant life and any fish that are swimming around in that area. This has the best running time so far of 100 minutes.
Moreover, the best feature of this is that it has an indicator of battery life. When you dive deeper it lets you know when you are getting low on charge so that way you can head back up to the surface before the battery dies. When you use two of these underwater sea scooters at once you can go even faster than before.
4. YAMAHA Underwater Seascooters w/ Camera Mount
This is one that is specifically marketed for beginners and younger children. It is designed to only reach depths of 30ft. This is best because of the fact that when you are a beginner you want to take the pressure of being underwater slowly as diving to fast and too deep can cause major health problems. This allows you to bring your diving experience with little to no risk.
It only reaches speeds up to 2.5 miles per hours so you do not have to worry about losing control or not being able to see what you are doing when you are underwater. The run time on this one is fantastic at a 1 hour run time. This gives you plenty of time to practice using an underwater sea scooter before diving right into the depths of the ocean.
The whole device weighs 5 pounds so it is not very heavy which means that the younger people using the scooter can still carry it with ease. This has positive buoyancy so it will not just start sinking when you stop and it is also fitted with safety grills and shut-offs to keep the rider safe.
5. YAMAHA Seascooters, SeaWing Underwater Dive Scooter (YME22400)
As far as sea scooters go this one has one of the sleekest designs in my opinion. It reaches speeds of 4 miles per hour and has a max run time of 45 minutes. So while that is not the absolute best run time that you can find the speed makes up for that in the distance you can go in that time. This one also has a battery life indicator so that you know how much time you have left before you will need to return to the surface.
Also, it has a dual thrust motor to keep it running at top speed when you are traveling underwater and viewing all of the sea life that you can find down there. It has a neutral buoyancy that when you are stopped it does not flip, float upwards, or sink to the ocean floor which is a great feature to have if you are a person that likes to stop and take photos when you are swimming around.
Like all the others it has a camera mount for just about any underwater camera that you could think of. Now it does not come with a camera so you will have to purchase one of your own.
6. YAMAHA Seascooters w/ Camera Mount (Red/Black Color)
This is going to be the way more expensive one out of all of them. So I would not recommend this one over the other just because of the price. However, the price does allow it to have slightly better features than the others would.
The first thing is that it is good for dives up to 100 ft. That is quite a lot more depth than the others. However, it only gets up to speeds of 3 miles per hour so that is not much of a change with the other ones, so while you can go deeper you are not getting as far as you would with the other. Moreover, it has an auto switch off and water leak sensors for safety which are a really good function to have. The body style is really good too as it has bike handles to hold onto for easier hand control and steering.
The biggest issue that I have with this one though is that it weighs 18 pounds which is significantly higher than the other ones that we were looking at before this one. So I would only recommend this for adults who are able to carry that much weight for long periods of time.
7. Yamaha Seascooter Explorer Underwater Scooter (Pool, Ocean)
This is a limited edition colored scooter. It comes in the color blazing orange which is a really cool design, and while help keeps you safe when driving. The bright color is easily identifiable so when you surface or are just underwater people can still see you in order to keep from bumping into you.
The next feature is the fact that it gets up to 2.5 miles per hour and has a run time of 1 hour. So this is going to be a better option if you are looking for something similar to number 6 but do not want to spend a whole lot of money on it. It goes down to a max depth of 30 feet so it is really good for young teenagers and children to use as it will not take them down past what their bodies can handle. Plus, It is a lightweight option at 11.5 pounds so it is great for travel.
This one has an auto shut off protection on it so that it keeps the driver of the scooter safe from harm. Underwater sea scooters like this are designed with the idea of families going on diving trips together so that anyone can dive without feeling left out or left behind. It does not include the Go-Pro but it does have a place to mount one for when you are going underwater.
8. YAMAHA Professional Dive Series Seascooters (Designed for Salt Water)
This one is much like the other sea scooters except for the fact that it is designed specifically for seawater dives. They are designed to conserve energy below the surface so that you can spend even more time looking at the scenery. They have a run time of 60 minutes and can go up to speeds of 3.1 miles per hour. So when you find a dive spot that you really love you can spend much more time there and really take in all the scenery.
They have buoyancy so when you stop you do not have to worry about it floating away from you or it just taking you right back to the surface. Now this one does come with some downfalls, it is quite expensive and it does not appear to have a camera mount so there is no way for you to attach your camera and just let it record what you are seeing. The depth that it can go down to is not listed in the description so that is another con because if you do not know what the safe depth that you can go down to is then it can lead to some dangerous situations.
For me, I would do quite a bit more research before purchasing this one to make sure you are getting your money’s worth. This one I do not really recommend as there are other ones that have been shown that do so much more than this one for a lot to let the money.
9. Sea-Doo Dolphin Sea Scooter w/ GoPro Mount For Kid & Adults
Now this one is a great one to give your kids for a summer thing in your local or private pool. They are designed to be used by kids as young as 8 years old. They only reach a max depth of 14 feet and a speed of 1.5 miles per hour. There is not really a whole lot of information on this product available so I recommend doing some research into your own.
It has quite a few safety features such as auto shut off functions, protective grilles and more. It weighs 12 pounds so I would not let a child use it unsupervised just in case something happens. There is not a set price for this item so that is where the research comes in. Make sure that you are looking at the price for the right item before purchasing because sometimes websites can be misleading. This does come with a GoPro mount so you can see what your child sees when they are having fun in the pool.
10. Tengchang 300W Electric 6km/h Diving Sea Scooter
This one has a max depth of 100 ft. below surface and can run for about 30 minutes. This is not much compared to others but is still a really good amount of run time to depth ratio. Having a maintenance-free design allows you to have to max the amount of time that you would want to use this scooter. It is completely waterproof and can be stored in temperatures ranging anywhere from -4 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is that it is going to need to charge for 12 hours the first time that it is plugged in. So make sure that you are charging it the day before you plan on going out to do any diving because otherwise you could be stuck with a dead scooter and that is not going to be fun for anyone. Anyway, this is one of the cheaper ones on the list so if you are trying to stay on a budget then this one is going to be the one for you.
So all in all when you are looking to buy any underwater sea scooters, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Battery life.
These are the main things to look out for because you may find one that is great but upon doing just a little more research you can find the same one that does the same things for even cheaper than you found the original.
Never just click on the first one and hit buy! Always do your research first because that can save you even more money in the long run.
The best one I would suggest is G GENEINNO Scooter. I say this is the best one out of all of them mainly for the price. Also, the fact that you can store it in whatever kind of temperature that you are dealing with and it will not affect the scooter at all. So long as you are properly using them they are very safe and easy to take care of when you are not using them.
- Are Sea Scooters Safe for Children?
For those that are still worried about whether or not they are still safe for children. Yes, they are and no they are not. They are safe if they explicitly state that children are able to use this product with no safety issues. If it does not say that then it is probably not safe for children to be using. Keep in mind how deep the scooter has the ability to go, the speed, and the time that it has before the battery dies.
Moreover, I do recommend that you always go with someone and never going diving with a scooter just in case there is something that goes wrong with it. I am not going to say they are 100% safe. But so long as you know how to use it then the chances of it being dangerous drop to almost nothing. There are more options out there for really good scooters but these are the best ones that I could find out there currently.
